#GivingTuesday: Join the Conversation and Get Inspired

December 1, 2020 by Valarie Budayr

Sponsored PR Sample

Today’s the day! Let’s celebrate this global day of generosity by rewarding all of the hard-working educators in the USA with a FREE Diverse Book for their Classroom!

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past 8 years, this idea has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

The Multicultural Children’s Book Day team would like to use the December 1, 2020, GivingTuesday event to encourage our supporters, reviewers, authors, and followers to help us, help teachers.

How? By supporting our FREE Diverse Books for Classrooms and Teachers Initiative with a monetary donation.

Did you know a $30 donation will help to get FIVE diverse books to FIVE different teachers/schools?

A $120 Donation will help MCBD get 20 books to 20 different teachers/schools.

There are more levels as well! Go to our #GivingTuesday Page and learn more.

It’s no secret that in-person schooling is a struggle right now thanks to an unprecedented global pandemic.

Our teachers and principals are among some of the many unsung heroes in our children’s lives. A gift of a brand-new diverse book for their classroom bookshelf could be a much-needed bright spot in their day.

But we need YOU to help US make that happen.

How can you help? Go to our #GivingTuesday Page on the MCBD website and choose your level of giving.

We want to inspire a wave of good and every act of generosity counts!

Ways you can express generosity right from your own home.

  • Share kindness with your neighbors
  • Volunteer virtually or share your talents
  • Give your voice to a cause that matters to you
  • Show gratitude to healthcare workers, service providers, and other essential workers who are making sure we still have the services we rely on, even at risk to their own health.
  • Discover a local fundraiser, community drive, or coordinated event to join others in your area or with your same interests in giving back — they need your help.
  • Talk about giving and generosity using the hashtag #GivingTuesday
  • Give to your favorite cause or a fundraiser to help those in need (like Multicultural Children’s Book Day’s FREE Diverse Books for Classrooms Project}.

Would you like a FREE diverse YA or picture book for your school library or classroom bookshelf? Then be sure and sign up for The Multicultural Children’s Book Day FREE Diverse Books for Classrooms Campaign

Multicultural Children’s Book Day Initiative Mission & History

Mission: To raise awareness for children’s books that celebrate diversity by getting more of these books into classrooms and libraries. This non-profit also strives to shine the spotlight on the diverse books and authors that often get overlooked by mainstream publishing and media.

SUMMARY of Our Literacy Celebration (1/29/21)

Multicultural Children’s Book Day (MCBD) is an online and offline celebration that attracts thousands of supporters, educators, parents, caregivers, book reviewers, and quality authors and publishers who join forces to shine the spotlight on diversity in children and YA literature.

Celebrated annually on the last Friday in January, this global non-profit offers a plethora of free resources, teaching tools, booklists, downloads, and a year-around initiative to get multicultural and diverse books into the hands of young readers.

To date, we have donated over 8,000 books to underserved kids, classrooms, and organizations, and that number continues to climb.

The MULTICULTURAL CHILDREN’S BOOK DAY EVENT is a unique opportunity to shine the spotlight on diverse/multicultural books, authors, and publishers.

It’s also a chance for students, educators, and parents to celebrate diversity and multicultural books in the months leading up to, and during, the Multicultural Children’s Book Day celebration that is held on the last Friday in January.
