Focusing On the Culture: Getting to Know Platinum Sponsor, Broccoli!

January 15, 2017 by Valarie Budayr

All of our sponsors for MCBD2017 are amazing and valued,  but the uniqueness and passion of Broccoli.com truly stands out.

Broccoil

Broccoli is a New York start-up company that focuses on collecting traditional stories from all over the world. Each of their multicultural children’s books come in six languages – English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Their unique and high-quality books also feature voice narration for all six languages, plus music and sound effects.

  1. What is your favorite letter of the alphabet and why?

B, of course!  We are Broccoli, we love Books, and our mission is to Broaden children’s horizons with diverse stories from across the world.

  1. What do you want readers/MCBD supporters to know about Broccoli?

Broccoli is a digital storybook start up which is currently preparing for a digital subscription service that will provide our subscribers with a vast library of international stories. We collect traditional stories from all over the world. Our mission is to educate children about different cultures and let them know that reading is another fun activity that they can do on digital devices. We believe that understanding each other is the first step to uniting diverse people into one community

  1. What exciting things are coming along for Broccoli in 2017?

In the Summer of 2017 we will start our digital subscription service with around 200 books, and we will be consistently adding to our library from there.

  1. What products/books are the most popular with Broccoli’s customers?

We have a sample book on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store that our customers can get for free, in anticipation of our subscription release! The app is called “Explore – Broccoli Book Series.”

  1. Give us some back-history on the company and how it came to be.

Broccoli started back in 2014 in Boston as a student run start-up. We have presented our books and ideas at the 2015 and 2016 Boston Book Festival. We are now aiming to start a digital subscription service in the Summer of 2017.
